Summer Reading Book Project: Donations Needed!

The Rogers Middle School Media Center would like to make sure every RMS student who wants a book to bring home and read over the summer can do so regardless of their financial situation at home. The Media Center is looking for both business and family partners to make this project happen! If you would like to make a financial donation to help us purchase books for students, please use the following link to donate to our Scholastic Student Donation eWallet. Funds raised will be used to purchase as many books as possible at our upcoming BOGO Book Fair so that students may pick out a book to bring home before summer break!

Students will be able to select their new-to-you books based on the number of books they turned in for trade. The Book Swap will take place on May 30 for 7th and 8th grade students and May 31st for 5th and 6th grade students. See the informational flyer for more details!

From the RMS Counseling Department

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

We have 3 things planned throughout the month in recognition of this:

  1. Students will receive weekly Schoology messages that share simple ways to take care of their mental health.

  2. We will hold an all-school kindness activity where we spread positivity throughout the school.

  3. We will hold an all-school mental health bingo activity where we encourage students to participate in different activities that promote well-being.

Looking for resources on Mental Health? Check out the ISD 728 Prevention and Safety website.

Preparing Your 8th Grader for High School

Our 8th graders will be RHS students soon!  We have 3 things planned this month to help them prepare:

  1. May 3rd: An optional “Lunch and Learn” opportunity was available to 8th graders on May 3rd.  Students were invited to have lunch with RHS students and engage in a Q&A session about life as an RHS student.

  2. May 8th: The 8th graders had a guidance lesson during science classes on May 8th to help them prepare for high school.

  3. May 17th: There will be an optional “Lunch and Learn” opportunity available to 8th graders on May 17th.  Students can have lunch with Holly Fanning, the RHS College and Career Counselor.  Holly will share information about college and careers, along with helpful tips for students to prepare for the future.

Note from the Health Office

All medications will be sent home with students the final week of school. If you wish to make other arrangements to pick up your student's medications, please contact our LSN directly: Katelyn.bieniek@isd728.org

Transportation for 2024-25 School Year: Form Must Be Completed by June 30!

ISD 728 Transportation is continually working to create more efficient bus routes and we need your help to ensure the bus is ready for your student in the fall by completing a Student Transportation Information Form.

A Student Transportation Information Form must be received by June 30, 2024, to ensure that bus assignments will be ready to start the school year. Request forms received July 1st and after may not receive a bus assignment to start the 2024-25 school year. Submissions will be processed in the order received.

To complete a request, the parent/guardian should:

  1. Login to Campus Parent Portal

  2. Select 'Message Center' (left-hand menu)

  3. Select 'Surveys' (main menu)

  4. Complete 2024-2025 Transportation Survey* (complete one form per student)

*Please make sure to select the 2024-2025 Transportation Survey, as we are still accepting changes for the current school year also. Transportation route information for next school year will be available in mid-August.

More information about transportation is available at www.isd728.org/Transportation along with a printable form.

2024-2025 School Supply Kits - Order Yours Now!

If you would like someone else to take care of next year's school supply shopping for your middle school student, you will be excited to know that RMS is once again partnering with 1st Day School Supplies! 1st Day will help you save money over shopping at big box stores and will provide you with only brand name products.

Kits can be ordered online and will be shipped directly to your home in August. ** Please note, there are required optional items listed with each kit; if you already have these items, there is no need to add them to your kit, however, if your student does not have these items, please make sure to add them to your kit (or purchase them elsewhere)!

Outstanding Class Fees, Fines, Field Trips

Please remember to check Campus Parent Portal for any outstanding fees that your student(s) may have. Any fees that are not paid by the end of the school year will be sent to collections. If you need assistance or have any questions regarding fees, please contact Debbie Beach at 763-241-3550 x2707 or via email: debra.beach@isd728.org.

Staff Appreciation Donations - Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who brought in a donation for Staff Appreciation Week!  We appreciate your generosity and support!  Thank you for treating our staff to snacks and the chance of winning gift cards throughout the week; they really enjoyed it!

Partnership with Every Meal

We are partnering with Every Meal (formerly The Sheridan Story) to offer a free bag of food to our families every weekend. All students qualify for this food program. If you had previously been receiving these bags and would like to continue, you will need to fill out the form (families have to sign up each year). Please use this link to register:  Every Meal Sign Up Form. To ensure your application is processed in a timely manner, please sign your student up with their assigned school. This program is completely free and your family's privacy is protected.
