April 2024

Happy spring RMS families!  We hope the 4th quarter has started off well for your student(s)!  Thank you for taking the time to read about things going on at our school; there is a lot happening before the end of the school year!


MCA Season is Upon Us!

Here are a few reminders for families:

  • April 16-18: 5th Grade Math MCAs

  • April 23-25: 6th-8th Grade Math MCAs

  • April 30-May 1: 5th & 8th Grade Science MCAs

  1. Students will need a fully charged Chromebook each day of testing

  2. WIRED headphones are required (wireless headphones are not allowed)

  3. NO Cell phones, Smart Watches/Wearable Technology or Bluetooth Headphones are allowed in the classroom during testing

ALL STUDENTS - Chromebooks, Headphones/Wired Earbuds, Notebook Paper & Pencils

Please make sure your student is coming prepared to class each day with their charged Chromebook, headphones/wired earbuds, notebook paper (if applicable) and pencils.  This is the time of year when we notice many students start to run out of supplies.  Please make sure your student is coming to class with these items as they need them to be productive and successful.  Thank you for your support!


Rogers Area Event for Multilingual Families: April 16


GRASP Math and Reading Program: Registrations due Wednesday, April 24 

If you wish to keep your student's reading and math skills sharp over the summer, please check out Community Education's GRASP program.  All registrations must be received by April 24, 2024.  Math = $45, Reading = $45 or both for $75.

  • Grades 5-8 (Workbooks/Paper Answer Sheets or Online)


Attention Parents of 4th Graders - Save the Date for 5th Grade Preview Night: May 2 @ 6:30 pm

If you have a 4th grade student at Rogers or Hassan Elementary that will be attending Rogers Middle School in the fall as a 5th grader, please mark your calendar for Thursday, May 2 at 6:30 pm to come to preview night at Rogers Middle School!

*Please note, this event is for parents only; students will have an orientation towards the end of August.


Stock the Staff Lounge with Snacks - Staff Appreciation Week: May 6-10

May 6-10, 2024 is Staff Appreciation week and we want to show our amazing Rogers Middle School staff how much we appreciate them and everything they do for our students at school!

We are looking for volunteers to bring the following treats for the week: 2024 RMS Staff Appreciation Week - Donation Sign Up. We have approximately 100 staff members. Thank you for your donations and for showing our RMS staff members how much we appreciate them!


5th Grade Students - Band Instrument Night: May 7 & 9

Did your 5th grade student register for band for their 6th grade year but they aren't sure what instrument they would like to play?  If so, please come to the Band Instrument night which will be held in the RMS Cafeteria from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, May 7 or Thursday, May 9.  Students will have the opportunity to try out different instruments and find what is the best fit for them.

  • 7th & 8th Grade Band Concert - Tuesday, May 28th @ 6:00 pm


Scholastic Book Fair: May 15 & 16 - Volunteers Needed

Kick off summer reading with our BOGO Book Fair! Everything is Buy One, Get One Free--books, posters, and school supplies!  The book fair will take place on May 15 and 16 during the school day (8 AM - 3 PM) in the Media Center.  Accepted forms of payment include cash, credit card and eWallet (eWallets can be set up starting on April 24). Please don't forget to include the 8.775% sales tax.  

** Reminder for 8th grade students: Any remaining eWallet funds not used by the close of the book fair will be donated to the Media Center for purchasing Scholastic books.  This is your last Scholastic book fair.

8th Grade STEM Field Trip - Volunteers Needed: May 29 & 31

We are looking for 12 chaperones to help during our 8th grade STEM field trip on May 29 and May 31. Parents will accompany their assigned group throughout their day to iFly or Decimet Sales/Rogers High School. Chaperones will not be flying at iFly.

Each volunteer must have an approved background check on file with the district before being allowed to volunteer.  Once you sign up to volunteer, details will be sent to you about your schedule for the day.  Thank you for your interest and help!

End of Year Media Center Information

Watch your emails as we get closer to May for information about our Buy One, Get One FREE Book Fair coming May 15 and 16. The Media Center will also be hosting a Book Swap for students in grades 5-8. More Information to come!

All lost and damaged books fees MUST be paid by the last day of school. The school district sets the policies about unpaid school fees, but please reach out if you have questions. All questions about overdue books and lost and damaged library fees should be sent to annie.allen@isd728.org


Pass Page Buyback Volunteers Needed: June 4

If a student uses 3 or less of their 18 quarterly passes, they will have the opportunity to turn the remaining ones in for a "pass page buyback" event that will be held on Tuesday, June 4. Students will spin a wheel to see what prize they've won. If you are interested in donating any items or volunteering for this event, please sign up below.  Thank you!

Quarter 3 Digital Citizenship PSA Winners 

Students in Mrs. LeMoine's Coding class took part in a Digital Citizenship Public Service Announcement video contest in collaboration with the Media Specialist, Mrs. Allen. The Quarter 3 winners were: Bianca Childs (Online Safety), Callan Comeau (Online Safety), Donovan Paiz (Online Safety), Ben Iverson (Online Safety), Grant Schumacher (Online Safety), Anna Stephens (Cyberbullying), and Natalie Nylin (Cyberbullying). Congratulations to this quarter's winners!


Congratulations to Mr. Donnay for receiving the KS95 Teacher of the Week Award!

We are so proud of Mr. Donnay and are very thankful to have him on our RMS team!  If you see him, please pass on your congratulations!


2024-2025 School Supply Kits - Order Yours Now!

If you would like someone else to take care of next year's school supply shopping for your middle school student, you will be excited to know that RMS is once again partnering with 1st Day School Supplies! 1st Day will help you save money over shopping at big box stores and will provide you with only brand name products.

Kits can be ordered online and will be shipped directly to your home in August. ** Please note, there are required optional items listed with each kit; if you already have these items, there is no need to add them to your kit, however, if your student does not have these items, please make sure to add them to your kit (or purchase them elsewhere)!

Thank you to all of our volunteers who spend countless hours helping out at RMS!  Thank you to all of the volunteers who came in to help out during the 3rd Quarter Pass Page Buyback event, to all those who helped out at the Scholastic Book Fair, to everyone who donated for the staff conference meal and for those volunteers that come in on a daily/weekly basis to help at our school!  We appreciate you so much! 


Order Your 2023-2024 Yearbook by Wednesday, May 1

Outstanding Class Fees, Fines, Field Trips 

Please remember to check Campus Parent Portal for any outstanding fees that your student(s) may have. Any fees that are not paid by the end of the school year will be sent to collections. If you need assistance or have any questions regarding fees, please contact Debbie Beach at 763-241-3550 x2707 or via email: debra.beach@isd728.org.  


Partnership with Every Meal

We are partnering with Every Meal (formerly The Sheridan Story) to offer a free bag of food to our families every weekend. All students qualify for this food program. If you had previously been receiving these bags and would like to continue, you will need to fill out the form (families have to sign up each year). Please use this link to register:  Every Meal Sign Up Form. To ensure your application is processed in a timely manner, please sign your student up with their assigned school. This program is completely free and your family's privacy is protected.
