March 2025

Just think, 3 months from now, your student will be gearing up for summer vacation! This school year is flying by and we are thankful for each day we see your student(s) at Rogers Middle School!  Thank you for supporting your student(s) and for taking a few minutes to read about updates at our school!  Don't forget to 'spring ahead' this weekend!

Lost and Found Items - Will be Donated Tomorrow, Thursday, March 6th

Please have your student stop by the lost and found area.  All remaining items will be donated tomorrow, Thursday, March 6.

5th Grade Track & Field Day T-Shirt Orders Due By The End of the Week!

We have a special opportunity for your 5th grade student to purchase a keepsake t-shirt that they will wear at the district track and field day on Monday, June 2 to show off their Royal Pride!  Shirts must be ordered by the end of this week and classroom teachers have sent home instructions on how to order a shirt if you have not yet done so. Thank you!

5th Grade Students: Band/Choir Recruitment Concert - March 13

Mr. Parr, Mr. Rauen and all of the 6th grade students are getting ready for the annual 5th grade band/choir recruitment concert which will be held during school hours on March 13.  This concert allows all 5th grade students the opportunity to see both the band and choir students perform before making their decision on if they want to register for band, choir or combo for their 6th grade school year.

No School Reminder: March 14-21

There is no school on Friday, March 14 (Staff Development Day) through Friday, March 21 (Spring Break).  We will see students back in the building on Monday, March 24!

Change War: March 24 - April 3 (During Lunches)

The teacher's jar with the highest total at the end will complete one of the following challenges: get slimed, get pied in the face, or dress wacky for the day. Students will get to vote on the challenge!

Pennies increase a jar's total, while nickels, dimes and quarters will deduct from a jar's total.

The money raised by this event will be used by Student Council to help get a school store started, buy items for lunch and recess, host events like dances, and purchase items for other student activities here at RMS.

3rd Quarter Pass Page Buyback Volunteers Needed

If a student uses 3 or less of their 18 quarterly passes, they will have the opportunity to turn the remaining ones in for a "pass page buyback" event that will be held on Thursday, April 3. Students will spin a wheel to see what prize they've won. If you are interested in donating any items or volunteering for this event, please sign up below.  Thank you!

Extra Change of Clothes - ALL Students

As the weather warms up, teachers are bringing your students outside! I Love to Read Month

First Annual Battle of the Books

Congratulations to the first place team in our very first ever Battle of the Books: Felicity Deutsch, Jordan Kvamme and Brooke Kro!

Battle of the Books is a trivia-style reading competition that all of the middle schools in ISD728 launched this school year. Questions came from this year's Maud Hart Lovelace Nominees. Students picked their team of three, read the books and then competed against each other for the title of RMS building champion! Our winning team will move on to a district level match-up with the winning teams from the other middle schools!

MCA season is fast approaching! A few reminders for families:

  • Students will need a fully charged Chromebook each day of testing
  • WIRED headphones are required (wireless headphones are not allowed)
  • NO Cell phones, Smart Watches/Wearable Technology or Bluetooth Headphones are allowed in the classroom during testing

District Wide Cultural Event: April 1

The annual District Wide Cultural Event will be held on Tuesday, April 1st from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Westwood Elementary.  There will not be a potluck but rather guests will go around to tables to learn about different cultures in our community.  If you want to join the Cultural Fashion Show, present your culture at a table, or have any questions, please reach out to: yuko.larson@isd728.org.
